Hi there! If you’re wondering what Higher Grounds Coffee House and Idyllwild Coffee Roasters are all about, you’ve come to the right place. We hope that if you find something interesting or helpful while reading these articles, you’ll pass them along to a friend or someone you think would find it beneficial. Through these articles we hope you’ll gain a better understanding of who we are here at Higher Grounds and Idyllwild Coffee Roasters, what is important to us, and come along on our journey with us as we grow into the future.
I think we should begin by explaining what Higher Grounds and Idyllwild Coffee Roasters are and why they’re separate, but codependent. Higher Grounds (HG) refers to the front of house cafe in Idyllwild, California. One of the managers, Erica (that’s me!), will be writing articles about the goings on in the cafe, being a barista, the Idyllwild Community, and generally anything to do with the coffeehouse itself. Idyllwild Coffee Roasters is the back of house roastery within Higher Grounds. They are completely separate, but equal, companies. While coffee from Idyllwild Coffee Roasters (ICR) supplies Higher Grounds with all of its’ delicious organic coffee, you don’t have to come to the cafe to enjoy it. You can also buy the coffee in various shops around the area, as well as online; on this website! The head roaster, Ryan, will also be contributing to this blog and writing articles on behalf of ICR giving you a better idea of what it’s like to be in the back of house, roasting side of coffee. We’re hoping that having articles from both perspectives will give you a more well rounded view of what’s going on behind the scenes of what we’re doing within the coffee industry. If you ever have any subjects you’d like us to cover in future articles, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
I’m really looking forward to this project. I hope you’ll be able to learn about what it’s like to work within the coffee industry, what makes HG and ICR tick, and about our wonderful community in Idyllwild, CA. Check back for the first article highlighting Higher Grounds and the work we do to support the community, while they support us everyday by visiting the shop. You can expect articles biweekly alternating between Ryan and I. We’re so excited, and we’ll see you back here soon!
